Job description
3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
We are seeking a Product Manager who is passionate about delivering impactful digital services that truly meet user needs. As a key member of our Web and Digital team, within the wider Technology and Digital Services (TDS) department, you will drive the development of innovative, user-centred products from initial concept through to launch and continuous improvement.
You’ll define product strategy, prioritise features based on user and business needs, and bring cross-functional teams together around a shared vision. Working in an agile environment, you will lead developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver inclusive, accessible, and continuously evolving digital solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Own product planning and execution across the full product lifecycle – from discovery and definition to delivery and iteration.
Gather, analyse, and prioritise user and business requirements to define a clear product vision and roadmap.
Align product development with strategic goals, ensuring that all digital services support the wider organisational objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to identify digital transformation opportunities and shape product direction.
Champion agile methodologies and best practices to ensure efficient, user-focused product delivery.
Translate vision and research into deliverable, prioritised goals using qualitative and quantitative data.
Take ownership of product performance, using data and user feedback to track impact, inform decisions, and guide future development.
Embrace a test-and-learn mindset, learning from outcomes and continuously iterating to improve the product experience.
Explore opportunities for scalable platforms and shared services that benefit multiple user groups or departments.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Product Manager or similar role in digital product development.
Strong understanding of agile methodologies and user-centred design principles.
Ability to define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy.
Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including developers, designers, and stakeholders.
Skilled in translating complex needs into actionable product features and roadmaps.
Confident in using data (both qualitative and quantitative) to make decisions and measure success.
Commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and designing services for diverse user groups.
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
A strategic mindset with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.
Desirable Experience
Experience in the public sector or large, matrixed organisations.
Familiarity with service design and platform thinking.
Background in user research or business analysis.
Knowledge of digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
