2-month contract position with a local authority

Summary
  • This is a 2-month contract position with a local authority, aimed at managing and maintaining a residential site on behalf of Property Services. The role is crucial for ensuring the premises are safe, compliant, and well-maintained, working closely with the residential team to provide a secure and functional environment.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance across the site.
  • Ensure all building compliance checks and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with the residential team to maintain a safe and functional environment for children and staff.
  • Identify and report any major issues or hazards requiring further attention.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of communal areas and external grounds.
  • Support emergency repairs and respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests.
  • Liaise with contractors and Property Services as needed.
Essential Experience
  • Previous experience in a site maintenance or technician role, preferably within residential or care settings.
  • Basic knowledge of building compliance and health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
Essential Qualifications
  • Relevant vocational qualification in building maintenance or a related field – desirable.
  • Health & Safety training or certification – desirable.
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 25 hours per week
  • The position is for 5 hours per day, 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM, including a ½ hour unpaid lunch break.
