Job description
3 months contract with local authority
This role involves leading a specific area within multi-agency Children's Social Care, particularly focusing on Children with Disabilities. The position is crucial for overseeing the daily operations of the service teams, ensuring the welfare of children is prioritized according to statutory guidelines. The role requires managing staff and resources to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services in line with government policies and council procedures. Additionally, the role involves strategic planning, budget management, and fostering effective partnerships with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the service area, ensuring prompt and efficient responses to contacts and referrals.
- Manage staff and resources to deliver services aligned with government policies and council procedures.
- Provide leadership in implementing changes in policies and procedures.
- Advise senior management on strategy, policy, and service direction, ensuring effective feedback and implementation.
- Meet and report on performance targets for the service area.
- Manage budgets and expenditures to optimize resources and ensure value for money.
- Foster effective working relationships with other departments, external agencies, and the third sector.
- Drive and implement the strategic vision of the department and manage cultural change for excellent service delivery.
- Lead project management for key Children's Social Care themes and develop joint arrangements with schools and other agencies.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in a multi-agency Children's Social Care environment.
- Strong understanding of statutory frameworks and government policies related to children's welfare.
- Excellent management skills for staff, resources, and budgets.
- Ability to provide strategic advice and implement policy changes.
- Experience in fostering partnerships with various stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and experience in service improvement initiatives.
