Job description
3 month Contract With A Local Authority
We are seeking experienced and skilled Advanced Social Workers to join our Permanence Teams within Liverpool Children’s Services. This is a critical role focusing on improving outcomes for children and young people who are in care or looked after.
The ideal candidate will have strong practice experience in Children in Care and Looked After Children work, along with a passion for achieving permanence and stability for vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities
Work directly with Children in Care / Looked After Children and their families/carers to support permanence and stability.
Take the lead on care and placement planning, using a methodical and organised approach to ensure quality and timeliness of plans.
Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with children and young people through direct engagement and skilled communication.
Conduct regular statutory visits, reviews, and assessments in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Minimise risk and promote the safety and wellbeing of children through robust risk management and contingency planning.
Ensure placements are stable, appropriate, and aligned to each child’s individual needs and long-term best interests.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, carers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care and permanence planning.
Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recordings, assessments, and reports.
Contribute to the development and improvement of practice within the team and wider service.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification permanent experience in statutory children’s social work (must be clearly indicated on CV)
Proven experience working with Children Looked After / Children in Care
Strong skills in care planning, risk management, and direct work with children and young people
Ability to manage a complex caseload independently with sound professional judgment
Excellent communication, report writing, and multi-agency working skills
Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle
Important Candidate Criteria (Please Read Before Applying)
All applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ permanent statutory children’s social work experience. This must be clearly indicated on the submitted CV.
Candidates must be car drivers and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Candidates currently in a permanent social work role in the North West region are not eligible to apply unless there has been a minimum 3-month gap from the end of their employment.
