1-month contract position with a local authority (TBC)
Summary
- This is a 1-month contract position with a local authority (TBC) focused on providing support and protection for children and young people with complex needs and risks. The role involves working closely with children, young people, their families, service staff, and partner agencies. The position is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people, while also enhancing the quality of social work practice and partnerships within the community.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Assess needs to plan and implement suitable multi-agency interventions and service provisions.
- Complete assessments, statutory visits, and parenting assessments.
- Mentor and coach less experienced staff and undertake joint working with internal and external partners.
- Develop clear practices and procedures to support social work practice and meet Social Work Professional standards.
- Manage a complex caseload, including children at risk and those subject to care proceedings and child protection plans.
- Act as a consultant and mentor to less experienced social workers, ensuring reflective practice in assessments and outcome-focused plans.
- Support less experienced staff with court proceedings and chair core group and multi-agency meetings.
Essential Experience Required
- Substantial post-qualifying experience in social work.
- Ability to make professional judgments in a multi-disciplinary setting and intervene effectively in complex situations.
- Experience working with complex and challenging cases involving vulnerability and risk with minimal supervision.
Essential Qualification Required
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Social Work qualification (completed within the last two years).
- Substantial knowledge of legislation and statutory responsibilities related to Children and Family Services, including appropriate quality standards.
Additional Information to Note
- Enhanced DBS is required for the role.
- Ability to visit children and families in their homes regularly.
- Willingness to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
