Job description
5 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- To lead the transformation of the council’s communications and community engagement functions by designing and implementing a new operating model. This role will ensure a unified, strategic approach to digital, press, marketing, and community engagement, enhancing the council’s public voice and improving measurable engagement outcomes.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Define and deliver a new communications and engagement operating model for the council, including digital, press, marketing, and community engagement services.
- Work closely with lead members to ensure there is a clear, shared vision for the future of these services.
- Lead the corporate office services (communications, policy, democratic services, community engagement) on a day-to-day basis, providing line management and support as required.
Essential Experience Required
- Proven experience in leading communications, marketing, or engagement functions within a public sector or complex organizational environment.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing new operating models or service transformations.
- Strong track record of working with elected members, senior leaders, and diverse communities.
Essential Qualification Required
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, or a related field.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- 4 days per week
- Flexibility on pay rate depending on experience.
