Job description
3 months contract with local authority
We are seeking a dedicated individual to take on the role of Youth Justice Support Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a mixed case load of Out of Court Disposals, including Triage, Youth Cautions, Youth Condition Cautions, and children eligible for Diversion work. The role will involve conducting assessments, planning personalized interventions, and providing support in line with the YJB National Standards and local practice. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse range of professionals to ensure the well-being and positive outcomes of the children within the youth justice system.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Out of Court disposals and Diversion scheme caseloads, supporting children to engage with personalized interventions and maximize safeguarding and welfare support.
- Conduct purposeful home visits to inform assessments.
- Prepare high-quality assessments of children’s needs within the required timeframe, ensuring comprehensive and analytical evaluation of all risks.
- Attend the OOCD panel and present necessary information on all cases to enable timely and proportionate decisions.
- Develop effective and personalized intervention plans in response to the assessed needs of children, upholding principles of ‘Child First’.
- Deliver direct one-to-one and group work interventions to children in line with agreed YJS intervention framework and best practice.
- Coordinate additional support and services to meet the needs of children, making timely referrals to other agencies and ensuring delivery in line with agreed intervention plans.
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of wider services and connect children and their families with the right help at the right time.
- Coordinate and attend team around the child and family meetings within the required timeframe, ensuring relevant professionals contribute to the intervention plan of support.
- Undertake timely and effective reviews and exit planning, ensuring the views of children and their families inform support arrangements.
- Ensure effective safeguarding and protection of children in line with local procedures and through robust risk management.
- Attend professional meetings and represent the YJS in a highly professional manner.
- Deliver diversionary intervention in line with local Diversion Scheme and support wider diversion and prevention work.
- Participate in the YJS duty rota and carry out all work associated with the role of the duty worker as per policy and procedure.
- Ensure that all case work and practice adhere to the YJB national standards and local practice guidance and policies.
