3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• We are seeking a highly organised Business Support Assistant (Grade C) to provide temporary administrative and financial support across a range of teams within the Environment Department.
• The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate records, processing financial data, managing internal systems, and supporting daily operational needs to ensure smooth service delivery.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide effective administrative and financial support across business units.
• Process creditor and debtor payments in line with financial regulations.
• Input payroll, staff absences, and HR-related data into internal systems.
• Maintain and organise accurate administrative and financial records.
• Generate management reports and ensure data accuracy for audit and operational use.
• Monitor and respond to departmental emails and calendar events.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and colleagues, ensuring clear communication.
• Carry out general office administration (typing, filing, correspondence).
• Answer incoming calls and provide high-quality customer service.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes or systems.

Skills/Experience:
• Experience in administrative or business support roles.
• Strong knowledge of general office procedures and systems.
• Confidence with financial tasks such as invoice processing and data entry.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proactive and flexible approach to working across different teams.
• Previous experience in local government or public sector administration.
• Familiarity with finance systems and audit requirements.
• Understanding of payroll and HR data handling procedures.

Additional Information:
• The role is full-time (37 hours per week), with hybrid working arrangements (minimum 2 days per week in the office).
