3 months contract with a local authority

Job Purpose

  • We are seeking a locum social worker with experience in mental health and/or older adults to provide support to our services over the Summer and possibly beyond. The role involves assessing the needs of individuals with acute, complex, or enduring mental health problems and their carers, formulating and implementing care plans, and working within a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Conduct Mental Health Act assessments and statutory functions if qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
  • Participate in Best Interest Assessor for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) assessments
  • Assess and identify the needs of service users and carers, ensuring their needs are met to enhance their quality of life and independence
  • Work in partnership with internal and external professionals and organizations to provide a coordinated response to service users and carers
  • Provide professional advice and expertise to less experienced staff, including students and colleagues, and carry a complex caseload
  • Establish, monitor, and review care plans in line with the Care Act and CPA policy and procedures
Essential Experience Required
  • Post-qualifying experience and working knowledge of mental disorder, care coordination, CPA, and risk assessment
  • Experience of staff/student supervision
  • Effective collaboration with other agencies and professions
  • Reviewing services and quality outcomes
  • Working in partnership with service users and carers
Essential Qualification Required
  • Social Work (SW) registration
  • Maintaining AMHP status through appropriate training and continuing professional development
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • Satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service required
  • Office-based role, 4 days a week with no remote working
  • Location: Beckenham Beacon in BR3
