Job Summary:
• An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join a Children and Young People's Disability Team.
• The role involves supporting children and young people with disabilities, ensuring their needs are assessed, supported, and reviewed in line with statutory responsibilities and best practice.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Undertake assessments of children and young people with disabilities and their families under relevant legislation.
• Develop, implement, and review care and support plans tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
• Work closely with multi-agency partners, including education, health, and voluntary services, to ensure a joined-up and child-centred approach.
• Carry out statutory functions including safeguarding investigations, CIN plans, and looked after child reviews as required.
• Provide direct support and advice to families, advocating for the rights and needs of children with disabilities.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with organisational procedures and statutory guidance.
• Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.

Skills/Experience:
• Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England (SWE)
• Proven experience in children’s social care, particularly working with children and young people with disabilities
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, and associated safeguarding frameworks
• Understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and multi-agency working
• Excellent assessment, planning, and report writing skills
• Ability to manage a complex caseload effectively within statutory timescales
• Confident in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and in challenging situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage families, professionals, and partner agencies

Additional Information:
• Vacancy for social worker in the children and young person's disability team - to start as soon as possible.
• Enhanced DBS required prior to appointment.
• This is a full-time role (36 hours per week), working Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.
