Job description
3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
We are seeking to recruit three dedicated SEND Case Co-Ordinators to support the Statutory Assessment Team and Pre-14 Annual Review Team. These roles are crucial in ensuring that children and young people aged 0–14 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive timely, effective, and legally compliant support.
Working collaboratively with families, schools, colleges, health professionals, and other agencies, the postholders will contribute to the delivery of statutory SEND functions under the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
Draft, review, and amend Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring they are high-quality, accurate, legally compliant, and reflect the needs and aspirations of the child or young person.
Lead and participate in Annual Reviews of EHCPs for children aged 0–14, including those with complex needs.
Act as the key point of contact for families, schools, and other stakeholders regarding a child or young person’s EHCP and statutory SEND processes.
Work closely with educational settings, social care, and health partners to gather and interpret advice and reports.
Ensure the voice of the child, young person, and family is central to the EHCP process.
Accurately record, update and manage case files using the Council’s case management system.
Contribute to performance reporting and continuous service improvement activities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in SEND.
Requirements
Proven experience working within a SEND statutory environment, preferably as a SEND Case Co-Ordinator within a Local Authority.
Strong understanding of the Children & Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, and associated legal/statutory frameworks.
Experience of drafting and amending EHCPs to a high standard.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitively with families.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload to strict deadlines.
Experience working collaboratively with professionals across education, health, and care.
IT literacy, including use of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
