Job description
3-4 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
This position involves providing a comprehensive service to enable the Local Authority (LA) to fulfil its statutory duties in the assessment of pupils with special educational needs by ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of statutory procedures and the appropriate placement and ongoing provision arrangements for Enfield pupils with an EHCP located within the area and hosted by other LAs where the duty falls to LA.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
To ensure a smooth and warm handover when cases are handed back to their substantive officer upon their return.
To support the SEN Funding and Finance officer 0.2 of the week in processing payments and carrying out tasks for delegated funding.
Having a training and development role within the team to support the SEN Manager and other team managers within SEN in an induction programme for new recruits.
Participate in ensuring that transitions between education and life phases are managed effectively and seamlessly with statutory deadlines (this includes early years to school, infant to junior and primary to secondary).
Attend annual reviews where required following staff absence following a relationship breakdown, parental request for a change of placement of key transition ages (& any other reasonable request to attend) and ensure that these are person centred and focussed on achieving the outcomes for the child or young person.
Essential Experience Required
Experience of working in a very fast-paced, high pressure, customer facing role
Experience of managing a large caseload or client base
Experience of working with complex cases
Exceptional customer service skills with experience of working with a variety of stakeholders
Essential Qualification Required
GCSE English A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent.
SEN Caseworker qualification and/or the proven ability and experience to clearly demonstrate the skills and knowledge.
Additional information to note
Working hours: 35 hours per week.
Hybrid working 1 to 2 days per week onsite in the Civic Centre.
Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child & adult) required.
