Job description
3 months contract with local authority
The primary objective of this role is to deliver a comprehensive surveying service for Housing Services, ensuring compliance with specifications, procedures, and legislation. This position is crucial for maintaining the quality and efficiency of housing services, particularly in areas such as responsive repairs, project delivery, and resident consultation.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver and monitor a responsive day-to-day repairs service.
- Provide surveying services, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of works and service programs.
- Conduct physical pre-inspections of council properties in both tenanted and communal areas.
- Accurately diagnose complex repairs for occupied and vacant properties, ensuring timely completion to prevent financial losses from disrepair claims.
- Develop precise repair specifications for complex and technical issues, maintaining professional standards, especially for structural defects.
- Ensure effective consultation with residents regarding the Section 20 process.
- Liaise with and efficiently monitor repair contractors.
- Recommend cost-effective solutions to repair issues.
- Perform quality checks and post-inspections of completed work orders as needed.
- Apply safeguarding principles during home visits, reporting any concerns about vulnerable residents or children to Housing Staff or Social Services.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of housing services, specifications, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Experience in delivering and monitoring responsive repair services.
- Proficiency in diagnosing complex repair issues and developing technical repair specifications.
- Ability to consult effectively with residents and liaise with contractors.
- Experience in quality control and post-inspection of completed works.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and procedures.
