3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Quality Assurance Reviewing Officer (QARO) provides independent, professional oversight of social care practice, ensuring statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements are met for children in care, child protection, and fostering reviews.
• The role supports service improvement, champions children’s rights, and promotes a strengths-based approach across the service. QAROs organise and facilitate statutory meetings, support operational teams, and ensure children and young people remain central to decision-making.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Ensure children are central to assessments and care planning.
• Facilitate and chair statutory meetings under the Children Act 1989 and Working Together 2023.
• Monitor and challenge operational practice to improve outcomes for children and families.
• Provide independent, professional support and constructive challenge to service teams.
• Promote strengths-based and child-centred approaches across the service.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers, colleagues, and partner agencies.
• Uphold a strong value base and professional ethics in all work.
Skills/Experience:
• Extensive experience in child protection, fostering, and reviewing functions.
• Strong understanding of statutory safeguarding frameworks and relevant legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to lead meetings and facilitate participation effectively.
• Strong analytical and reflective skills; commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
• Ability to work independently and provide objective oversight.
Additional Information:
• The closing date: 23/11/2025.
• Qualified social care professional with post-qualification experience.
• Temporary role (12 weeks) with 3 days per week in the office at Civic Campus, Euclid Street, Swindon, SN1 2JG.
• £100 travel expenses for candidates living 50+ miles from Swindon (valid until 31 Dec 2025).
