Job Summary:
• We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Principal Development Control Officer with a strong background in minerals and waste planning.
• This role involves determining planning applications for minerals and waste developments, providing expert advice, and ensuring compliance through site monitoring and enforcement across multiple local authorities.
• The ideal candidate will have significant experience in minerals and waste development management and be confident in working independently on complex planning matters.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Assess and determine planning applications for minerals and waste developments.
• Provide high-quality pre-application planning advice to developers and stakeholders.
• Undertake site visits and prepare reports and recommendations for planning committees.
• Attend and present at planning committee meetings across multiple local authority areas.
• Monitor operational minerals and waste sites to ensure compliance with planning permissions.
• Investigate breaches of planning control and initiate enforcement action when necessary.
• Liaise with internal teams, statutory consultees, and external partners to support application assessments.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning legislation and national policy relating to minerals and waste.

Skills/Experience:
• Significant experience in minerals and waste planning/development management (essential).
• Proven ability to manage and determine complex planning applications independently.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant planning legislation, national policy, and guidance.
• Experience in planning enforcement and site monitoring activities.
• Strong report writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work across multiple authority areas and manage competing priorities effectively.

Additional Information:
• Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility (desirable).
• Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:30).
