3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• We are seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join an Adult Social Care team as a Mobility and Blue Badge Assessor.
• The role focuses on assessing individuals’ mobility and functional needs to determine eligibility for a Blue Badge under the national criteria.
• The successful applicant will work in a fast-paced environment, conducting face-to-face assessments and supporting residents to access the appropriate services and mobility solutions.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Conduct in-person functional assessments to determine eligibility for Blue Badges based on government mobility criteria
• Undertake mobility observations in a clinical or contact centre setting
• Provide or recommend walking aids and minor mobility equipment where appropriate
• Refer or signpost individuals to relevant services such as physiotherapy, reablement, or adult social care teams
• Accurately document assessments and decisions, ensuring compliance with data protection and professional standards
• Liaise with multi-agency professionals and community services to ensure joined-up support for service users
• Deliver a person-centred approach that promotes independence, dignity, and choice
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice relating to mobility assessments and adult social care

Skills/Experience:
• Experience of conducting functional assessments of mobility and daily living skills
• Good understanding of Blue Badge eligibility criteria and relevant legislation
• Knowledge of equipment provision and safe manual handling practices
• Ability to work autonomously in a time-pressured assessment environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies
• Strong IT and record-keeping skills, including use of case management systems

• HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a recognised degree qualification.
• Enhanced compliance required (including DBS and references).
• Hybrid working not applicable – assessments are primarily in-person.
