3-month Contract with a local authority

Job Purpose
  • To provide a professional social work service to adults, their families, and carers in accordance with the requirements of the Care Act. Engage with individuals, families, groups, and communities to assess and intervene, employing a range of interventions promoting choice, control, and independence.

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Assist individuals, carers, and families to develop support plans using an asset-based approach and family, friends, and community options where appropriate.
  • Encourage involvement and ownership of the support plan, taking a leadership role where appropriate.
  • Actively promote wellbeing and independence, engaging effectively with families to facilitate contingency planning.
  • Consider NHS Continuous Healthcare for all individuals as part of the assessment.
  • Assist with the duty/intake function of the team as required, providing immediate professional guidance on urgent issues and arranging immediate support to manage risk.
  • Understand and apply the Council's duties and responsibilities for safeguarding children and young people, as well as preventing and detecting crime.
Essential Experience Required
  • Experience of communicating with compassion and authority in challenging situations.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with people in complex situations, both short term and building relationships over time.
Essential Qualification Required
  • Recognized Social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA Hons Social Work, or other relevant degree in Social Work).
  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE) and adherence to SWE standards for conduct, performance, and ethics.
  • Participation in the ASYE or evidence of successful completion of the ASYE or demonstrate capabilities required at ASYE level or higher.
  • Applied knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Additional information to note
  • Working hours: Mon – Fri 9-5.
  • The role requires an Enhanced DBS & barred list check.
  • Hybrid working with x2 days a week Office based.
