• Working part-time (21.5 hours per week), you will be responsible for ensuring timely responses to statutory Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) checks, supporting Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), and promoting a city-wide, multi-agency approach to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
• This role is ideal for someone with experience in safeguarding, multi-agency working, and community engagement, particularly in the context of counter-extremism, Prevent, and Channel.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Coordinate and return CTU lateral checks within five working days of receipt.
• Support the delivery of the Prevent Strategy across statutory and voluntary agencies.
• Act as a central point of contact for Prevent referrals, offering expert guidance to colleagues and partners.
• Collate and analyse data to produce quarterly reports on the local risk landscape.
• Attend and contribute to MAPPA and Channel Panel meetings where appropriate.
• Represent the organisation in multi-agency discussions regarding radicalisation, safeguarding, and public protection.
• Deliver awareness training (e.g. WRAP) to internal staff and external partners.
• Support the creation of Prevent Champions across service areas.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community leaders, faith groups, and local organisations.
• Provide a culturally competent, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive response to children vulnerable to extremism.
Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience in safeguarding, child protection, or public protection roles.
• In-depth knowledge of the Prevent Duty, Channel processes, and counter-extremism legislation.
• Strong understanding of contextual safeguarding and the vulnerabilities linked to radicalisation.
• Experience working with high-risk offenders or within MAPPA frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with multi-agency partners, including police, social care, education, and community organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compile reports and chronologies.
• Skilled in training delivery and capacity building across teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage sensitive information, and meet strict deadlines.
• Confident in using Microsoft Office and case management systems.
• Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse communities in a respectful, inclusive manner.
Additional Information:
• Part-time role: 21 Hr/week.
• The position is office-based, though flexible hybrid working may be considered.
• This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and a DBS check is required.
