3 months contract with a local authority  


Job Purpose

An experienced Housing Advice/ Prevention/Homelessness Receptionist, who can hit the ground running. Candidate will be expected to be part of the Housing Advice & Options Reception desk, completing Triage assessments, and carrying out respective prevention and relief work. Knowledge of Part VII Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act and other relevant legislation and statute is required along with experience of carrying out homelessness enquires, casework and drafting s184 decision letters.


Key Duties/Accountabilities

To be part of the busy Housing Team at the front door of Housing reception providing a proactive service, giving advice and assistance to anyone with housing related problems in accordance with current legislation and code of guidance and identifying those who are already homeless or at risk of becoming homeless within 56 days.

the post-holder will be responsible for proactively delivering housing options advice, including security of tenure, low-cost home ownership, preventing homelessness, investigating householder circumstances and undertaking statutory assessments to determine the best options and resources available on a case-by-case basis. This will involve managing the housing needs reception and reviewing all cases that approach the service.

Having a knowledge of housing options, move-on and homeless prevention, to work with individuals supporting and directing clients to access a broad range of housing options and where appropriate making relevant onward referrals and signpost to other services. The post holder will ensure statutory requirements are met and local team targets are delivered through early intervention and triaging of all cases.


Essential Experience Required

Candidates will be required to demonstrate they have good customer services experience and practical experience of delivering in a pressurised Housing Options Services is essential.

 

Essential Qualification Required

 

A qualification in a similar field is essential.

 

Additional information to note

Working hours: 36 hours per week.

Candidate will be expected to be office based - Office hours are Monday to Friday - 9.00am - 5.00pm- induction period which normally takes two to four weeks to complete depending on level of competency.
