5-6 month contract position with a local authority

Summary
  • This 5-6 month contract position with a local authority involves providing high-level, modern, and efficient executive support to the Executive Director of Adult Social Care & Health. The role is crucial for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Directorate and includes line management of two Executive Support Officers. It also involves strategic coordination across the Council to support leadership priorities and policy objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver proactive and confidential executive support to the Executive Director, including diary management, correspondence, briefings, and meeting preparation.
  • Act as a trusted adviser, enabling informed decision-making through effective communication and coordination.
  • Line manage two Executive Support Officers, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development.
  • Champion and drive forward the Directorate’s priorities and policy objectives across the organisation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior officers and stakeholders to ensure the Executive Director is well-informed and prepared.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including communications, policy, and transformation to support cultural change and best practice.
  • Forward plan agendas, track key actions, and synthesise complex information to support strategic operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee corporate activities within the Directorate, implementing efficient and user-friendly processes aligned with organisational standards.
  • Support the Directorate’s readiness for CQC inspections and other regulatory requirements (desirable).
Essential Experience Required
  • Proven experience as an Executive Assistant or in a similar senior administrative role.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership in a public sector or health/social care environment (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the CQC inspection process (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong experience in managing teams and coordinating cross-functional activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Essential Qualification Required
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in business administration, public sector management, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications in administration or management (desirable).
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
