3 Months Contract with a Local Authority
Summary
- This role involves managing a caseload of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), coordinating statutory Education, Health, and Care (EHC) assessments and plans. The position is crucial for ensuring a person-centered approach, working collaboratively with families, professionals, and educational settings to secure positive outcomes and smooth transitions for children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children and young people undergoing EHC assessments or with existing EHCPs, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Co-produce outcome-focused EHCPs in collaboration with families, professionals, and educational settings.
- Lead and attend multi-agency meetings, including annual reviews, co-production meetings, and transition planning.
- Provide expert advice to schools, settings, and families on SEND pathways, statutory processes, and best practices.
Experience
- Experience working within a Local Authority SEND team or in an educational setting supporting children with SEND (e.g., SENCo, teacher, social worker).
- Proven track record of managing statutory SEND processes and multi-agency collaboration.
- Experience in chairing meetings and drafting EHCPs.
- Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and working with vulnerable children and families.
Qualification
- Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, BA/BSc in Social Work) and registration with Social Work England.
- Knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
