4 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking qualified and HCPC-registered Educational Psychologists to undertake statutory assessments for children and young people.
• The role involves conducting face-to-face educational psychology assessments, producing high-quality written advice within agreed timescales, and contributing to the delivery of effective services that support the borough’s children, families, and schools.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Complete statutory educational psychology assessments to a high professional standard.
• Deliver clear, comprehensive, and evidence-based advice and reports within given deadlines.
• Work directly with children, young people, families, and education settings to identify needs and promote inclusion.
• Apply psychological theory, research, and practice to inform recommendations and interventions.
• Communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders including schools, social care, health professionals, and parents/carers.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with professional and council standards.
• Adhere to Tower Hamlets’ professional conduct, safeguarding, and equality policies.

Skills/Experience:
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality statutory advice and reports.
• Strong knowledge of psychological theory, assessment tools, and current research.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage workload, prioritise effectively, and meet statutory deadlines.
• Experience working within a local authority or educational setting (desirable).
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.

Additional Information:
• The closing date: 31/10/2025 @23:00.
• This is a short-term project assignment (December 2025 – March 2026), offering flexibility and a competitive daily rate of £630 (2 days per assessment).
• HCPC registration as a qualified Educational Psychologist (essential).
• Doctorate in Educational Psychology and BPS-recognised psychology degree.
• DBS check: Required.
