3 months contract with local authority

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Officer in Charge to work with vulnerable children and young people in Cardiff. As a confident, independent, and effective Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for leading, inspiring, motivating, and developing our new Children’s Home, as well as ensuring that the home meets all regulatory standards and provides excellent quality care to the children and young people. This role involves understanding the needs of the young people in depth and securing placements that can better meet those needs. Key responsibilities include ensuring that young people receive a sensitive service that best meets their various needs, empowering them to have a voice in decision-making, building positive relationships with families and others, and ensuring integration with the local community.


Requirements


  • Proven experience at a senior level of working with young people within a residential childcare environment
  • Relevant qualification meeting the equivalent criteria for Social Care Wales registration and a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other current legislative requirements
  • Knowledge of budget monitoring and management systems
  • Knowledge of child development and an appreciation of the needs of young people
  • Ability to undertake and complete assessments
  • Experience of working with a Behavior support model of care
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prepare reports and chair meetings
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Ability to understand own duty of care, to safeguard and promote the interests of young people, and challenge inappropriate practices
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
