Job description
3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The role involves supporting adults with a variety of needs - including learning disabilities, physical or sensory impairments, autism, or dementia - across a range of community and centre-based settings.
• You will promote independence, inclusion, and improved wellbeing using a strengths-based approach and person-centred planning.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Support individuals with daily living activities both in centres and the wider community.
• Assist with personal care, medication administration, and use of mobility aids/equipment.
• Contribute to person-centred care and support plans.
• Complete records, maintain confidentiality, and follow all safeguarding procedures.
• Act as a keyworker and advocate for individuals, liaising with families, carers, and professionals.
• Participate in risk assessments, meetings, and reviews.
• Provide guidance to new staff and support the induction process.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, reporting any concerns promptly.
• Drive service vehicles (if eligible), support outings, and accompany individuals in the community.
Skills/Experience:
• Some experience in community work or care services (paid or voluntary).
• Ability to support individuals in varied settings with compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and non-verbal.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, disability awareness, and person-centred care.
• Comfortable providing personal care and supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Ability to manage emotional situations and challenging behaviour with a calm approach.
• Basic IT skills and understanding of data protection/confidentiality.
• Willingness to undertake training including QCF Level 3 in Care (or equivalent).
• Able to travel across sites and work flexibly.
