3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to join the Referral and Assessment Service within Bromley Council’s Children’s Social Care division.
• This is a temporary, 3-month contract (with potential extension), offering the opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering high-quality social work assessments for children and families.
• The successful candidate will oversee a team of social workers, ensuring timely, effective, and child-focused interventions.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Manage and support a team of social workers within the Referral and Assessment Service.
• Oversee Child and Family Assessments to determine appropriate support and interventions.
• Ensure statutory requirements are met in cases involving Child Protection, Children in Need, and Looked After Children.
• Undertake supervision, performance management, and quality assurance of team casework.
• Work closely with the MASH team and other partner agencies to manage referrals effectively.
• Participate in the duty rota (1 week in every 6) and ensure effective allocation of new cases.
• Contribute to service development, maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child welfare.
• Report on caseloads and service performance as required by senior management.
Skills/Experience:
• Proven managerial experience within a Children’s Services setting (essential).
• Strong background in Referral and Assessment or Child Protection work.
• Ability to manage high caseloads and prioritise competing demands.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Confident in conducting supervision and supporting professional development within a team.
• Strong partnership working skills, with experience liaising across agencies such as police, health, and education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.

• Working pattern: 3 days per week in the office (hybrid working).
• Hours: 36 hours per week.
