3-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, focused on providing specialist support to reduce the use of temporary accommodation. The primary objective is to match suitable customers to a variety of private sector properties sourced through different schemes. The role is crucial in minimising admissions into temporary accommodation by offering timely housing solutions early in the homelessness journey and maximising exits through effective use of private sector options.
Responsibilities
- Identify and match customers to suitable private sector properties sourced through council schemes.
- Work proactively to prevent homelessness by offering timely housing solutions before temporary accommodation becomes necessary.
- Facilitate and manage the transition of customers from temporary accommodation to permanent housing options.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, agents, and housing providers to secure a consistent supply of private sector properties.
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation, council policies, and safeguarding requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on placements and outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in housing services, homelessness prevention, or private sector lettings.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation and homelessness duties under the Housing Act.
- Experience in negotiating with landlords and agents to secure accommodation.
- Track record of working with vulnerable individuals and providing tailored housing solutions.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing market dynamics.
- Strong IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- Location: Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, Walthamstow, E17 4JF, United Kingdom
- Work pattern: 2 days in the office, 3 days remote
- Interviews will be onsite at Waltham Forest Town Hall and will consist of a standard interview and technical exercise.
