Job description
3 months contract with local authority
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality, individualized care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism in a complex needs environment. The primary responsibility is to improve the quality of life for service users, enhance their mental and physical well-being, and support them in developing their skills to achieve greater independence and control over their life choices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide person-centered care and support, including personal care, medication management, promoting physical and mental well-being, community participation, household living skills, and money management.
- Treat service users with dignity and respect, effectively communicating to identify and meet their diverse needs.
- Develop person-centered support and risk management plans aligned with individual needs, goals, and aspirations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, performance standards, and organizational policies and values.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in adherence to fire safety protocols, health and safety standards, and lone working procedures.
- Follow and manage safeguarding policies and procedures to promote the well-being of all individuals.
- Collaborate with other services, professional agencies, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality support.
- Work with the Living Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) lead and mentor team members for PBS interventions.
- Act as a designated shift leader in the absence of management.
- Contribute to team effectiveness through strong teamwork and communication.
- Attend and represent the organization at care plan reviews.
- Act as a scheme champion for dignity and person-centered support.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar support role is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Willingness to undergo relevant training and development.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license (preferred).
