3 months contract with local authority


We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work with individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities, including children and older adults, in either a community or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conducting functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities, particularly in a community setting, and will also have experience in assessing complex pediatric cases. Additionally, the candidate should possess a deep understanding of specialist equipment for both children and adults to promote independence, as well as knowledge of health and social care legislation, health and safety, and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities
  • Assess for major adaptations to meet complex needs for both children and adults
  • Make sound clinical judgments and appropriate recommendations for aids to daily living, adaptations, and care packages
  • Deliver training and coaching to staff of various grades
  • Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Undertake supervisory responsibility for staff of various grades, including student occupational therapists and apprentices
  • Promote the role of Occupational Therapy within the workplace
  • Respond positively and flexibly to changes in the workplace
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Make sound decisions while working in a demanding environment




Requirements


  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • IT skills, including experience with the Office package, emails, word, and excel
  • Ability to manage conflict and prioritize workload
  • Physical ability to perform moving and handling of people and equipment
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes
  • Knowledge of Equality & Diversity issues
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
