1-2 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Senior Legal Assistant will provide high-level administrative and legal support to the Local Authority’s legal team.
• The successful candidate will work closely with solicitors and other legal professionals, providing vital support across a range of legal functions, including but not limited to, drafting legal documents, conducting research, and managing case files.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases and provide accurate summaries of findings.
• Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare and draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence, under the guidance of senior legal staff.
• File Management: Maintain and organize legal case files, ensuring they are up to date, compliant with legal standards, and easily accessible.
• Client Communication: Liaise with clients and stakeholders, responding to legal queries and providing updates on case progress.
• Support Legal Team: Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating document deliveries.
• Compliance: Ensure all legal procedures comply with local regulations, policies, and protocols.
• Court Support: Assist solicitors in preparing for hearings and trials, including document preparation and trial bundles.
• Ad hoc tasks as required to support the legal team during the contract period.
Skills/Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role, preferably within a local authority or public sector setting.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal procedures, contract law, and the role of local authorities in legal matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with legal case management software is desirable.
