2-3 months with a Local Authority

Job Purpose

  • As the Interim Adult Social Care Financial Assessment Service Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and compliant financial assessments for our adult social care service users. You will lead a team of dedicated officers, oversee the effective management of cases, and drive service improvements. Your expertise will be vital in providing specialist advice on complex cases, appeals, and complaints.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Support the Head of Service for ASC Financial Assessments to ensure effective delivery of people processes and resource management
  • Monitor and evaluate performance to ensure effective service delivery
  • Ensure robust ASC & SGO (Special Guardianship Orders) financial assessment process and efficient delivery of outcomes
  • Continuously seek innovative ways to improve ASC collection rates
  • Lead in identifying and addressing skill or training gaps in ASC income Collection & ASC financial assessment staff
  • Establish effective communication processes with internal and external stakeholders and service users
  • Identify areas within the business that could benefit from automation processes to reduce costs to the Council
  • Identify and develop talent, and empower colleagues within the service
  • Identify and escalate any budget risks

Essential Experience Required

  • Ability to engage, coach, and motivate teams and set clear targets and expectations
  • Evidence of high levels of customer service and satisfaction
  • Experience in successfully managing performance and providing clear constructive feedback
  • Experience in successfully implementing plans and projects to time and budget
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage budgets and resources
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the political structure and role of elected members
  • Ability to work collaboratively both within own service and across other services
  • Excellent understanding of charging framework for adult social services and knowledge of legislation affecting Adult Social Care Service, e.g., the Care Act 2014

Essential Qualification Required

  • Local Government professional qualification in finance/collection/benefit/welfare reform services or equivalent
