Job Purpose
  • This is a fantastic opportunity to work within The Fire Safety Team within Engineering and Compliance under the Housing Directorate. We are looking to recruit highly experienced fire risk assessors to join our in-house team of fire safety professionals to carry out Type 1 fire risk assessments on residential properties, delivering fire class services to our residents.

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Flexibility is provided to manage your diary/workload with close liaison of the appointed Fire Safety Co-Ordinator.
  • Contribute to monitoring of existing legacy portfolio as regards FRAs and procedures to facilitate the management control of fire risks.
  • Be a team player and have good communication skills throughout.
  • Carry out fire risk assessments and FRA reviews in line with the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) 2005.
  • Responsible for the survey and design of individual fireworks, schemes or work stream delivery packages and undertake contract administration of borough and area wide contracts as required.
  • Responsible for audit and risk review of term contractors' performance in relation to fire-related works, including pre- and post-inspections.
  • Act as or on behalf of the Contract Administrator using technical expertise to ensure effective performance by the building services, construction, and maintenance contractors.
  • Manage contractors and consultants to ensure fire safety standards are fully met.
Essential Experience Required
  • To be successful in applying for this role, the candidate must have experience in:
  • Conducting fire risk assessments for various residential properties.
  • Being a member of a relevant professional body such as IFE, IFSM, or CABE.
  • Having several years of demonstrable residential FRA experience.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of: Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order, Approved Document and British Standards.
  • A solid understanding of different construction methods and the application of both active and passive fire safety measures is essential.
Essential Qualification Required:
  • Being IFSM Tier 2 or equivalent.

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • The role is deemed hybrid, with a mandatory SINGLE office day post initial induction.
