Early Years Quality Improvement Officer
Job description
3 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- To identify and provide specialist support and challenge to
Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) early years settings registered with
Ofsted on the Early Years Register judged as or at risk of being judged as
‘Requires Improvement’ or ‘Inadequate’, with a focus on securing improvement at
their next Ofsted inspection.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- To provide advice, training,
challenge and support to ALL PVI early years settings and childminding
practitioners ensuring compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage to
develop best practice in ensuring children experience high quality, inclusive early
years provision, to raise achievement and to close the gap in attainment.
- To provide advice, support and sign
posting to enquirers who are interested in setting up new early years childcare
provision or in changing/extending current provision to support Southwark’s
Childcare Sufficiency duties.
- To facilitate networks, forums and
groups of practitioners coming together to share best practice and provide peer
support
- To monitor, evaluate and write
reports where required on the progress and impact of national and local
interventions
Essential Experience Required
- Past experience with planning of an Early Years curriculum and
implement the planned activities, undertake record keeping and observation of
children. is essential.

Essential Qualification Required
- A relevant qualification in early years / education to a minimum of
level 3 is essential.
Additional information to note
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- The role requires an Enhanced DBS
& barred list check (Child).
