Role Overview

The Interim Director of Regeneration and Assets will work closely with the Corporate Director of Housing and Regeneration to provide day-to-day leadership and strategic direction to the capital programme and corporate non-housing asset management. This role involves overseeing the building of new homes on council land, collaborating with the housing delivery team, and leading the operations of regeneration and housing, including real estate asset and FM functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the dedicated regeneration and housing teams, bringing pace to the mayor’s housing development programme.
  • Establish a development programme for currently non-funded housing development sites, with budgets established.
  • Deliver key mayoral priorities that include community facilities and an extra care new build.
  • Set high standards in regeneration and housing development reporting, ensuring innovative practices are adopted to ensure delivery.
  • Manage resources, including capital spend, and monitor operational and programme performance, inclusive of risk.
  • Establish a coordinated and collaborative working relationship with corporate and divisional directors to secure vacant possession of land and property for major development agreements.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate should have a strong track record of housing and regeneration delivery in a large, registered provider or public sector. They should possess significant leadership experience in complex regeneration and housing developments, as well as experience in corporate non-housing real estate and FM. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate effective budget and cashflow management, political acumen, and the ability to work in complex, ambiguous times while maintaining clarity of purpose.
