Job Summary:
• We are seeking a dedicated and proficient Children’s Social Worker to provide high-quality, child-centred social work interventions that safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
• The role involves working with children in need, those with disabilities, looked after children, and care leavers.
• The successful candidate will deliver effective planning and intervention to help children achieve stability, safety, and positive life outcomes, ensuring they are supported through critical transitions in their lives.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Deliver consistent, reliable support and interventions to children and families to promote safety, development, and wellbeing.
• Undertake thorough child and family assessments and contribute to care planning and review in accordance with legislation and best practice.
• Lead multi-agency efforts to meet the needs of children with child protection plans, privately fostered children, and looked after children.
• Engage meaningfully with children, capturing their views and using them to shape assessments and plans.
• Collaborate effectively with carers, families, adopters, and guardians to ensure positive outcomes for children.
• Use evidence-based practice to support behavioural change in families and reduce risk factors.
• Prepare high-quality reports and present cases confidently to legal and professional panels.
• Maintain comprehensive, timely and child-focused case records.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of reflective practice and continuous learning.

Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience in statutory children’s services within a multicultural setting.
• Strong knowledge of key legislation including the Children Act 1989, Adoption and Children Act 2002 and Leaving Care Act 2000.
• Competence in child-centred practice and effective engagement with families under challenging circumstances.
• Experience of working in child protection, care proceedings, permanency planning and looked-after children services.
• Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and systemic family work.
• Ability to balance risk and protective factors and manage complex caseloads independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to write court reports and deliver evidence in legal proceedings.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex information and make sound, evidence-based decisions.

Additional Information:
• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (or equivalent regulator).
