We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Looked After Children Service and 16+ Children Looked After Team. As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in assessing and intervening with children and families, ensuring that children's plans are progressing and that they are receiving the appropriate level of service. You will collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure that the child's voice is heard and integrated into case planning. Your responsibilities will also include visiting and working with families, acting as a Case Manager, providing and contributing to Child & Family Assessments, and liaising with other agencies on behalf of service users.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake ongoing assessment work and intervention with children and families
- Progress children’s plans and ensure they access the right level of service
- Work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure the voice of the child is heard
- Visit and work with families as required, assessing and re-assessing children’s needs
- Act as a Case Manager and co-ordinate appropriate review meetings
- Provide and contribute to Child & Family Assessments as required
- Develop ways of identifying and assessing children in need within the criteria set out in the Children’s Services Plan
- Provide children and families with information and advice to assist in resolving problems
- Liaise with other agencies on behalf of service users to co-ordinate resources and arrange assistance
- Carry out statutory duties as authorised by the Service Manager, Safeguarding Service, and the Assistant Director and Director of Peoples Services
- Present evidence and reports to Courts as required
- Take part in the team’s Duty system as required
- Maintain computerized records and documentation in accordance with approved policies and procedures
- Work in collaboration with parents, guardians, carers, and other professionals in relation to Children Looked After and maintain records in accordance with CLA requirements
Requirements
- Relevant social work qualification
- Registered with Social Work England
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies
- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DB
