3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Provide support within a catering environment, assisting with meal preparation, serving, and maintaining hygiene standards.
• The role involves working alongside school staff to ensure safe, efficient, and friendly catering services, contributing to the wellbeing of children and colleagues.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Prepare basic food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Perform simple cooking tasks such as reconstituting prepared meals.
• Transport and serve meals, adhering to portion control and using correct serving equipment.
• Carry out general kitchen and dining duties, including washing up and cleaning equipment and tables.
• Operate a computerised meal register accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and associated equipment throughout the day.
• Follow hygiene standards consistently, ensuring personal appearance meets uniform and hygiene guidelines.
• Identify and report any hazards or equipment defects promptly.
• Always adhere to health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.
• Ensure timesheets are completed and signed before finishing work.

Skills/Experience:
• Awareness of safeguarding principles and health and safety regulations.
• Good communication skills, able to engage effectively with children, school staff, and colleagues.
• Friendly, approachable demeanour with good customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel to various locations within the borough.
• Ability to speak and understand English fluently.
• Previous experience or interest in food preparation and catering is desirable.

Additional Information:
• Basic food hygiene qualification relevant to the role (e.g., Level 1 Food Hygiene).
• Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
