3 months contract with local authority

Service Provision:

1. Building Inspections:
   • Carry out building inspections as necessary to diagnose the cause of building defects, raise work orders using the National Housing Federation Schedule of Rates or specifications as appropriate.
     
2. Condensation Reports:
   • Prepare reports relating to condensation in compliance with the LBI Condensation Protocol.
     
3. Report Preparation:
   • Assist in the preparation of reports for senior managers, including those of a policy or strategic nature.
     
4. Technical Reports:
   • Produce professional technical reports and present them to the High Value Repair Panel.
     
5. Subsidence and Structural Failure:
   • Manage subsidence and structural failure cases in association with specialist external consultants.
     
6. Alteration Requests:
   • Assess alteration requests from tenants and leaseholders and complete paperwork in compliance with the process.
     
7. Insurance Cases:
   • Manage fire, flood, or collision insurance cases.
     
8. Policy Development:
   • Assist the Legal Disrepair and Diagnostics Manager in the development of policies and procedures relating to the Repairs Service.
     
9. Quality Assurance:
   • Undertake Quality Assurance checks on works in progress or completed.
     
10. Legislation Knowledge:
    • Have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation, Building Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
      
11. Meeting Attendance:
    • Attend meetings as required, including those held outside normal working hours.
      
12. Repair Responsibilities:
    • Understand the repair responsibilities of the Council in relation to Tenants and Leaseholders, including Leaseholder consultation requirements.
      
13. Customer Service:
    • Provide a prompt, courteous, and helpful response when dealing with queries from customers, their representatives, other agencies, and internal colleagues.
      
14. Site Monitoring:
    • Monitor and oversee works on site, agree variation requests, and manage the payment system.
      
15. Record Maintenance:
    • Maintain proper and accurate electronic records.
      
16. Project Information:
    • Carefully and accurately record all necessary project information to assist in the control of the project, identifying any relevant matters to the Diagnostic Surveying Manager in a timely fashion.
      
17. Quotations and Tenders:
    • Obtain quotations and tenders in line with the Council's Procurement procedures and manage delegated Project Budgets.
      
18. System Development:
    • Advise on the best development and use of the systems and liaise with staff in those sections to make full use of the systems, ensuring harmony between operational procedures and system requirements.
      
19. Best Value:
    • Ensure that services are provided in accordance with the Council’s commitment to “Best Value” and high-quality service provision to customers/clients.
      
20. Health and Safety:
    • Ensure that the requirements of all relevant Health and Safety legislation and the Council’s relevant policies are fully observed.
      
21. Equal Opportunities:
    • Ensure that the services provided are appropriate to the needs of the people of Islington, particularly disadvantaged groups, in accordance with the Council’s Equal Opportunities Service Delivery policy.
      
22. Employment Policy:
    • Carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Employment policy.
      
23. Other Duties:
    • Perform any other reasonable, minor, and non-recurring duties, appropriate to the post, as determined by the Diagnostic Surveying Manager.
