Job description
3 months contract with local authority
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality social work service to address the needs of children and their families in accordance with statutory guidelines. This includes assessing needs, planning and implementing targeted interventions to ensure the safety of children and promote positive outcomes. The role also involves providing guidance, support, and supervision in alignment with individual capabilities and the organization's Supervision Policy.
Newly qualified staff at grade P01 will carry out their responsibilities with support, close supervision, and guidance, and will have a reduced caseload. Upon successful completion of the ASYE, Social Workers will automatically transition to P02.
Key Responsibilities

- Assessment
- Provide a clear and accurate assessment of a child and their family's needs in accordance with statutory guidance.
- Conduct interviews, observations, and gather information from various sources to analyze and evaluate the holistic assessment of a child's needs.
- Understand the context of child development, parenting capacity, and family and environmental factors to establish individual needs.
- Assess and balance risk and protective factors within a child protection framework.
- Provide concise, informative written and verbal reports based on complex evidence.
- Review and reassess as necessary, remaining open to a change of view in response to new evidence.
- Conduct interviews, observations, and gather information from various sources to analyze and evaluate the holistic assessment of a child's needs.
- Provide a clear and accurate assessment of a child and their family's needs in accordance with statutory guidance.
- Planning and Service Delivery
- Provide purposeful social work interventions with explicit aims and objectives for desired outcomes within the context of managing risk to children.
- Devise written plans for intervention and/or care based on assessed needs.
- Implement planned interventions using various methodologies, including systemic and social learning theory approaches.
- Utilize research findings and statutory guidance to inform social work practice.
- Apply problem-solving skills within professional relationships with parents and their children.
- Develop and manage Child Protection Plans for children in need, in line with child protection procedures.
- Provide concise reports about complex information in accordance with the requirements of the London Child Protection Procedures and the court.
- Acquire knowledge about different groups, races, and cultures to inform service delivery and understand the impact of racism and discrimination on children and their families.

Requirements
- Relevant social work qualifications and registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Experience in conducting assessments and developing care plans for children and families.
