3-Month Contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
- To provide supportive, non-intrusive care to young people aged 16 and over within a residential setting. The role focuses on promoting independence while offering guidance in daily living activities such as cooking, shopping, and emotional wellbeing. Staff are expected to carry out regular welfare checks and maintain accurate records, ensuring a safe and supportive environment that respects the autonomy of each young person.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Conduct three welfare checks per shift (in person or by phone) and record observations accurately.
- Provide support with daily living tasks such as cooking, shopping, and general wellbeing.
- Build positive, professional relationships with young people, offering guidance without conflict.
- Maintain detailed records of interactions, activities, and support provided during each shift.
- Use lone worker safety devices and follow safeguarding protocols at all times.
- Participate in a full induction and ongoing training to ensure safe and effective practice.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working with young people in a residential or community setting (paid or voluntary).
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and professional boundaries.
Essential Qualification Required
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 44 hours per week
- Enhanced DBS is required for the role.
