Job description
3 months contract with local authority
This role involves providing comprehensive, high-quality outreach and home-based Early Help support to children and families using a "whole family" approach. The primary objective is to deliver targeted support to children aged 0-25 and their families, aiming to prevent the need for statutory services and ensure access to universal services. The position requires managing complex cases, supporting vulnerable children, and facilitating smooth transitions between early help and social care.
Responsibilities:
- Manage complex cases stepping down from children's social care, conducting early help assessments, and arranging Team Around the Family meetings.
- Offer support for cases escalating to level 4, ensuring a seamless transition between early help and social care.
- Provide intensive, targeted support to vulnerable children and adolescents, including those with complex emotional and mental health issues.
- Conduct risk and needs assessments using the Early Help Assessment Tool (EHAT) and coordinate Team Around the Family plans.
- Implement de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors within families.
- Align work with the Signs of Safety model and utilize tools like the Family Outcomes Star to track progress.
- Develop and support practical parenting strategies to enhance family relationships.
- Maintain accurate records on electronic systems, including plans, assessments, and chronologies.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions and demonstrate progress in improving outcomes for children.
- Conduct home visits to provide targeted support and meet Early Help Hub Practice Standards.
- Support supervised contact for cases open to Early Help and promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices.
- Safeguard children and young people in line with statutory guidance and legislation.
- Engage in professional development and contribute to service evaluation and development.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with service users, ensuring their views are recorded.
- Stay informed on legal frameworks and responsibilities relevant to the role.
- Work within a performance management framework, adhering to City Council policies and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
- Experience in managing complex cases and conducting early help assessments.
- Ability to provide targeted support to vulnerable children and adolescents.
- Proficiency in using assessment tools like EHAT and coordinating Team Around the Family plans.
- Strong skills in de-escalation and developing parenting strategies.
- Competence in maintaining detailed electronic records.
- Commitment to professional development and service improvement.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and legal responsibilities.
- Ability to work within a performance management framework and adhere to City Council policies.
