Job description
5 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• We are seeking a reliable and proactive Logistics Operative to support daily operational and courier services across a corporate estate.
• The role involves delivering high-quality logistical and maintenance support, assisting with internal/external mail and goods distribution, supporting small operational works, and ensuring efficient handling of confidential materials.
• The successful candidate will work collaboratively across teams, demonstrate excellent customer service, and maintain accurate records using systems such as Tech Forge.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Carry out daily logistics support and operational tasks across multiple sites.
• Operate an efficient internal and external courier service, handling confidential materials as per protocol.
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks using tools and equipment safely and in line with procedures.
• Drive a council vehicle, ensuring all safety checks and secure transportation of goods.
• Maintain asset records and documentation using IT systems including TF Cloud.
• Support removals, clearances, deliveries, and room setups as required.
• Liaise with internal departments and external partners (e.g. Royal Mail, couriers) to ensure effective service delivery.
• Ensure safe handling, delivery, and storage of equipment, furniture, and documentation.
• Contribute to performance development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to all relevant health & safety, lone working, and risk assessment procedures.
Skills/Experience:
• Basic knowledge of logistics operations and services.
• Computer literate, with ability to use systems like TF Cloud and spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and safe manual handling.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused, with a proactive and professional approach.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider facilities team.
• Willingness to wear a uniform and maintain a smart appearance.
• Experience in handling confidential materials and sensitive deliveries (desirable).
Additional Information:

• Full, clean UK driving licence required.
• A Health and Safety qualification will be desirable.
